Ford recently announced that its Explorer SUV will be featured with its latest EcoBoost engine making it the most fuel efficient seven seater on the market today. The next Ford in line to receive the new 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder will be the Edge crossover. This means that for the first time in the Edge’s model run, it will achieve a EPA-certified 30 mpg on the highway.

“Adding the EcoBoost engine to the new Ford Edge crossover makes for 13 vehicles delivering 30 mpg or more in the Ford showroom,” said Amy Marentic, group marketing manager for Ford’s Large Cars and Crossovers. The Edge’s new highway rating beats all its similarly sized competition while still delivering a solid 21 mpg average in the city. The same 2.0 liter, direct injected and turbocharged EcoBoost four cylinder found in the Explorer makes the Edge’s increased efficiency possible. 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque travels through the 6F35 six speed automatic for the Ford Edge EcoBoost.
