Ford has appointed Hau Thai-Tang as group vice president for global purchasing to succeed Tony Brown, who is retiring Detroit Free Press.

The change will be effective Aug. 1, 2013.

Brown joined Ford in July 1999 and spent the last 11 years of his career overseeing purchasing for Ford.

Thai-Tang will report to Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mark Fields.

Birgit Behrendt was named vice president of global programs and purchasing operations. Burt Jordan has been appointed vice president for global vehicle and powertrain purchasing and supplier diversity.

Behrendt and Jordan will report to Thai-Tang.

Kumar Galhotra was named as vice president of engineering, while Trevor Worthington will lead product development in Asia Pacific.

Ford also named Galhotra as chief of global engineering. Galhotra will report to Raj Nair, head of global product development.

Worthington will be based in Shanghai, China, and report to Dave Schoch in Asia Pacific as well as to Nair.
