In the United States, Ford Motor Company did rather well sales wise for the month of August. Not only did their F-Series Pickup earn best selling vehicle, but they placed second overall in the manufacture wars. Outside of North America, the blue oval proved it can be just as successful as the month of August was its best since 1998. In the 19 traditional European markets, Ford’s share rose to 8.2 percent, making it the second-best selling vehicle brand in Europe.

In all 51 European markets, Ford jumped up 18.6 percent compared to last year. 95,800 vehicles were sold, with a large number of those sales coming from the Focus. Germany was largely to blame for the company’s market share jump as 19,800 for vehicles were purchased. Year-to-date, this market is Ford Europe’s biggest gain as a total of 171,800 vehicles have been sold since January.

Stephen Odell, Ford of Europe’s chairman and CEO said, “The economy remains very challenging and consumers are jittery – particularly in the Eurozone – but we remain optimistic given the response to our new vehicles and technologies and the new vehicles we have in the pipeline.”
