When I get in to start the engine the fuel gauge is sitting on full (or somewhere between E and F when it should be on E with the engine off) and when the engine starts, it moves way up past full. If I remember to watch it move, it is accurate enough to at least show how much gas is in the tank just by watching how far it moves.Turn the engine off it goes back to full or maybe half way back to it. Then next time I start the engine it reads even further past full till it eventually goes all the way around to read way below empty. Now the tachometer is doing the same thing--engine off it reads 4000 RPM (should read 0), start it and it reads 5500 RPM in idle. If it was just the fuel gauge, I'd think it was the sending unit but it involves tachometer now too. Any help would be appreciated. BTW--I'm way short of being a mechanic.
