Fiat punto 98 1.2 16v. No Start...?

Hey guys need some help have the above car not started so after checking the the obvious have put it down to the fuel pump .I can pull up the back seat and switch the ignition on and the pump runs for a few seconds to prime and stops,but no fuel coming out of either pipe on the pump is this common on these puntos even if i supply power to it constantly the pump will run but still no fuel.Any ideas thanks .....

It could very well be the fuel pump sender. I had a "Monday morning" punto and replaced practically the whole darn car.... When my fuel pump went I was told by the mechanic that it's a common problem.

It wasn't that expensive to repair...but a bleedin' inconvenience.
