he said it was a full service but i reckon he just checked thigs over and added water and oil...no parts etc were needed.

What kind of service? oil change & filter? electrical? general maitence that you can do!?
your paying for conveince of some oneelse doing work Labor is usauly half your bill, plus parts, shop supplies to save money do it yourself!!??
