I took it to a local auto shop and they said it was the distributor and fuel filter. For diagnostics, new distributer, labor, towing and fuel filter they said it will be about 1,500. 800 alone for the distributor. Does this sound right? It just seems a lot. Also if you had a 11 almost 12 year old car, would you put the money into or get a new car? It has been a great car, but in the past year I have already put around 2000 in it. It has 110,000 miles on it.
Also can you buy parts and take them to the auto shop or do they only use certain companies?

If you bought the parts yourself, you`d probably save a lot. My Probe GT(Mazda engine) needed a distributor and Ford wanted $900 just for the part!
