Why not just use a car battery and charge it when it needs it.This way you'll get the amps to run it aswell.

This sounds like something you should let an experienced electrician handle.
Unless you live in a country other than the U.S.... your common hot to ground voltage in your garage is 120 volts. 240v is what you get from phase to phase (hot to hot).
Reguardless, what you'll need to get to 12v or 14.4v is a step down transformer. You'd be able to find it from somewhere like Grainger or MAYBE a radio shack.

power inverter. you should have a 110 Volt outlet and it would be a better choice than 220 that voltage is for welders and such. A power inverter for a loval part store is as easy as hooking up a couple wires and plugging it in. Remember that your speakers are different Ohm from house to car audio.

i would use a car battery charger, just put the 240 plug into a socket then tape the connections to all the stereo connections, good luck
