I'm trying to get my driver's license for the first time, I'm 23, do I still

need to have auto insurance? I don't plan on actually driving at all, I just want to get it for identification purposes. Do I still need to be a part of an insurance policy in order for the dmv to issue me a license.

states varie here in md you can have your license even drive uninsured jsut dont get caught, they have uninsured motorist funds best thing is check your state laws, you usually do not have to have ins to have a lic but do need it to drive a car,then if you never use it and dont have ins and try to get it you could get charged way more for having no insurance before.
