Land Rover Discovery...parts and maintenance?

I live in the US, on the east coast and my wife loves the older model (98-03) land rover discovery. I want to find one for her but was wondering if the parts and maintenance on that vehicle (especially an older model) would be extremely expensive. Could someone please give me some advice?

I sell parts for these vehicles,yes the parts are expensive.the v8 uses alot of fuel.All in all, just as dependable as any other
