Shelby Steele writes that Jackson and Sharpton are "challengers" who inflict white guilt NOT BASED IN FACT at every possible turn, and Obama and Oprah are "bargainers" who will provide absolution from white guilt.
Steele says whites do not need this, and it's counterproductive, it's simple profitable manipulation, and that "White Bravery" is called for.

I couldn't agree more. Personally I don't feel any white guilt, as I have nothing to feel guilt about. I work, pay taxes, provide for my children, take care of myself and don't leech off of society. Race will never stop being an issue until both sides stop making it an issue. Stop asking for reparations, and government handouts every time something doesn't go your way. America has more opportunities to make your own way than any other country in the world.
