Vehicles Owned by Forbes 400 Richest Americans

If you could peer into the garages of America’s wealthiest citizens, what do you think you would find? You’re probably thinking of an incredibly expensive vehicle, such as the Maybach 57 S, or a look-at-me Ferrari 599 GTB. Well, think again. Those six-figure cars may do for millionaires who want others to know they have arrived when they roll up in their bejeweled-wheel conveyances. However, you are less likely to find ultra-luxe wheels owned by the billionaires on the 25th annual Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans, which was released on Sept. 20.

Each year, Forbes magazine compiles a list of the wealthiest Americans, the Forbes 400, based on net worth. In conjunction with this year’s list, we embarked on an exhaustive quest to tell you what these billionaires prefer that you not know — what car they drive.

From the vehicle belonging to Abigail Johnson, who, with her family, controls Fidelity Investments, to the brains behind Google, we have the goods on their daily drivers. We obtained this information largely from official motor vehicle registration records of the various states where Forbes-listed billionaires reside. In many cases, the people on our list prefer to live inconspicuously, avoiding the limelight at all costs. Perhaps this is why no one wished to assist us in our prying endeavors. Little did they know that we became all the more determined to deliver to you a little glimpse inside their lives, and most interestingly, their cars.

That makes sense.

"Rich" people like rappers, sports stars, and actors buy super expensive cars for the show off factor.

"Wealthy" ($ billions) buy upper level "normal" cars. I bet they had their wild side when they were just millionaires and now they've calmed down.
