Volvo 240 problem -- squealing?

I have a 1988 volvo 240, and recently it has started squealing a lot. It usually happens either when initially accelerating, or when accelerating through turns in intersections. I think it is either the power steering or the clutch (it is a stick-shift), but i am not sure. Anyone encounter similar problems and know what it is, how serious this is, or how to fix it? Thanks
