Which VW engine is better? 1.8T or 2.5L?

Hey,

The new American VW Rabbits and Jettas have different types of engines than the same types of cars VW sells in the rest of the world. The Rabbit(Golf) that is on sale in China and Japan are using 1.8T engines while the Golf in Ireland and Germany are using TSL engines. So why the 2.5L engines are being used in America? Are they better than the 1.8 Turbo? And how about the fuel effeciency?

AFAIK 2.5L are much better than 1.8L. Asking why? Hmmp...Because as what i have experienced upon driving that 2 engine and comparing them.
