Hi, I live in Connecticut and I just began having insurance under my name about 4 months ago. Recently a guy hit me and damaged my car but when I tried to get his insurance to pay for it he lied about the whole thing and the police report stated both our stories so I was denied liability. Now my insurance company has to pay for the damages which come out to around 2400 dollars. I was wondering if my premium will go up next time I renew... I already pay $2700 a year and am worried =(

Any time your insurance has to pay for something it goes up,
Insurance is a racket. but everyone has to have it.
If it were me, I would try to sue the guy, If you have a good record of what happened you might be able to prove in court it was his fault.

He hit you and your company says it was your fault? Something stinks here. The police report would carry both statements that is normal. Do you have any witnesses? I would contact your company and make inquiries.

If the accident was determined to NOT be your fault then your insurance should not go up. (I was in a hit and run accident where all the witnesses said that I did nothing wrong) Also, your insurance company will probably open a file against him so that if he is ever found they will sue him for the claim.

Of course this is an insurance company we are talking about so I would not be surprised if it does go up but, it shouldn't.
