Porsche Sales Edge Down on Drop in Demand for Cayenne Models

ATLANTA (AP) — Porsche Cars North America Inc. said Wednesday its December U.S. auto sales fell slightly on a drop in demand for its Cayenne models.

Porsche sold 2,850 vehicles in December, compared with 2,861 in the same month a year ago. Adjusted for one fewer selling day this December compared with last, Porsche sales fell 3.5 percent.

Sales of Porsche's Boxster and Caymen models jumped 64 percent to 784 vehicles, while sales of 911 models rose 20 percent to 1,125. Cayenne sales fell 34 percent to 938 vehicles.

For the full year 2006, Porsche sold 34,227 vehicles, up 7.2 percent from 31,933 in 2005. Adjusted for one fewer sales day this year than in 2005, Porsche sales rose 7.5 percent.
