For some reason, Ford SUVs equipped with EcoBoost engines have been plagued with recalls as of late and most recently, one more further inforced that statement. Soon to be recalled will be certain Edge crossovers for a fuel leak problem that could end in an unwanted blaze. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing could be at risk for damage due to a manufacturing issue. If this piece does crack and leak, an odor, weepage and or a continuous leak will take place. Given the part’s close proximity to an ignition source, a spark could set off an entire vehicle fire.

So far, approximately 5,499 vehicles are at risk. All affected Edeges were built between September 2, 2010 through October 31, 2011 and are all 2012 model years. As previously mentioned, just the SUVs fitted with the 2.0 liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine are being recalled. Starting on September 24, Ford will begin notifying owners of the issue and a remedy will follow shortly after. Certified dealers will simply replace the part and do so at no extra cost to the public.
