The 2012 model year marks the second generation for Toyota’s subcompact Yaris. The much sharper body lines of the all-new lift back Yaris contrast the first generation’s round and honestly soft fenders. competing head-on with the Honda Fit and Hyundai Accent, the Yaris features a myriad of standard features that work out to an approximate value of $1,000.

Base MSRP for the 2012 Yaris L three-door liftback will be $14,115 for the five speed manual variant. Upgrade to the SE five-door with Toyota’s tired and true four speed automatic and you’ll shell out $17,200. Standard features include Toyota’s Star Safety System and most options from last generation’s Convenience Packaged. The SE trim is new for 2012 and uses new suspension tuning to keep the Yaris competitive. Production begins on August 31.
