Toyota brought out their mid-life refresh to the full-size 2014 Tundra pickup at the Chicago Motor Show this week. The changes for 2014 are mostly cosmetic, with a new grille and front fascia, front quarter panels, and an all-new bed design.

The interior gets reworked as well with new seats and updated dashboard. Gone away is the split-look center console with oversized knobs. In its place is a smart, almost elegant layout that somewhat reminds us of a Ford F-150. All Tundras will receive Bluetooth and a rear-view camera, no matter the trim level.

As far as trim levels, each level will have its own distinct look and feel. Two new trim packages are offered: Platinum and the 1794 Edition. The Platinum is a full-loaded luxo truck that competes with the likes of – you guessed it – the Ford F-150 Platinum. The 1794 Edition is a western-themed trim that pays homage to the ranch on which the Tundra’s assembly plant is built, having been founded in 1794. The 1794 competes with Ford’s F-150 King Ranch and Ram’s Longhorn Laramie.

All three power plants return unchanged for 2014. The 4.0-liter V-6 is paired with a 5-speed auto, while the 4.6-liter V-8 and 5.7-liter V-8 are mated to a 6-speed auto.

The 2014 Tundra will reach dealers in September 2013. Pricing should be fairly close to the current Tundra models.
