Volvo and Polestar have a long history of making fast and interesting cars, just look at the Swedish Touring Car Championship standings, but Volvo has stepped things up a notch.

Debuting this week at the L.A. Auto Show, Volvo and Poelstar have created the S60 Polestar Concept. This bright blue menace features a turbocharged straight-six engine with 508 horsepower and 424 lb/ft of torque. Those number represent bumps of about 200 horsepower and 100 lb/ft over the standard car. We want one.

Polestar has also lowered, widened, and strengthened the car while fitting a tuned Haldex AWD system and Ohlins suspension bits.

Jan Andersson, chief engineer at Polestar explains that they ” approached this project by looking at the production Volvo S60 as a platform for a potential race car…” We say mission accomplished.

This may only be a concept but if you own a Volvo and want a little bit of that Polestar magic, you can take your car to your local dealer and see if you qualify for a Polestar upgrade that will increase your car’s power.

Take gander at the Rebel Blue beast in the gallery below, and if you think this would make a great addition to your garage, maybe you should try to contact Volvo. You never know, with enough interest a new 500HP S60R could be a reality.
