In April 2012, the New York Auto Show should be the public’s first official glimpse into the next brutal Mopar monster. Since it bowed out in 2010, the Dodge Viper has still been managing to break hearts and records, recapturing the Nürburgring production car record in September. Rumors about how and what the next Viper will be like have been flying non-stop since it was announced that the icon would resurface as a 2013. Mostly just ‘talks’, the industry did get some rather interesting insight not too long ago from Chrysler’s hot-hero himself, SRT President and CEO Ralph Gilles. According to an Autoblog article, Gilles mentioned that the 2013 Viper will be shown at April’s New York Auto Show.

As of yet, official word hasn’t gone much further. Early concept drawings have shown the next Viper should look remarkably similar to the past generations. A major change will come in the form of added ‘safety’ as the next car will have electronic stability control, per federal ruling. Despite the worry that the computerized nanny could dilute the Viper’s famous brutality, gargantuan V10 power should silence most purist’s grips. More than likely, a “street-friendly” version of Mopar’s newly released 800 horsepower crate V10 will find its way under the next generation’s hood.
