Toyota’s revised 2014 Tundra made its rounds to the Atlanta International Auto Show this week – its first time in the southeast.

Having made its first appearance at the Chicago Auto Show in early February, the truck is seen more as evolution than revolution. The bodywork and interior get updates that Toyota hopes will reenergize their six-year-old fullsize truck.

The Tundra will have some stiff competition in 2014 with the new Chevy/GMC trucks and Ram’s new 3.0-liter V-6 diesel powerplant and 8-speed transmission in the 1500.

Powerplants for the Tundra remain the same for 2014: the 4.0-liter V-6 making 270 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque, the 4.6-liter V-8 making 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque, and the respected 5.7-liter V-8 kicking out 381 hp and 401 lb-ft or torque. Both V-8s are backed by a 6-speed automatic while the V-6 is mated to a 5-speed.

As for the actual changes to the truck, the new front clip incorporates a new three-piece bumper and taller grille and hood. Toyota says the bed is “all-new” with its updated look and construction. A stamped “TUNDRA” logo resides on the bottom right of the tailgate and a small integrated spoiler lies across the top.

A new instrument panel and seats set the interior apart. A backup camera and Bluetooth are now standard equipment in all trim levels and blind spot monitoring is now available.

And speaking of trim levels, two new packages will be offered: Platinum and the 1794 Edition. The Platinum is a fully-loaded luxo truck while the 1794 Edition has a western style, reminding us of the F-150 King Ranch or Ram Longhorn Laramie.

The 2014 Tundra will reach dealers in September 2013. Pricing should be fairly close to the current Tundra models with the Platinum and 1794 Edition fetching more.
