As one of if not the only manufacture to build cars for the apocalypse, Subaru seems to have a special hold on folks who like to explore and get lost. Rugged and reliable, vehicles such as the Outback and upcoming XV Crosstrek are built to be used and their next assignment involves building a guide that would make Douglas Adams proud. Utilizing social media, the automaker will allow its owners to participate in creating the “Subaru Guide to Everything” that can be used by everyone to find whatever.

“Subaru owners are adventurers. So we are asking them to help write the greatest social guidebook ever written,” said Subaru of America Chief Marketing Officer, Dean Evans. Partnering with Lonely Planet, the guide will be placed on facebook as an interactive application. Owners and fans alike can add their own reviews on global hikes, campgrounds, dog parks, restaurants, bike trails and everything in between. Updates will happen in real-time and access to the guide can be had via a facebook tab and or mobile app.

“This is not a guidebook for the glove box; it is a highly-mobile, social resource for the adventurer on-the-go,” said Alan Bethke, director of marketing communications for Subaru of America.
