Honda’s premium brand, Acura, is getting ready to go through some substantial changes in the near future. One of the biggest will be in the form of an all-new model placed as the next entry car. This “gateway” car will be mass-produced at Honda’s Manufacturing of Indiana assembly plant at the start of spring 2012. Named the ILX, the next Acura should feel the void left behind by the compact RSX with a higher emphasis placed upon economy. That means that for the first time in is relatively short life, Acura will offer a hybrid model which will supplement the obviously high-strung standard ILX.

“I am very proud of what our Indiana team has accomplished in such a short time, and we have great confidence in our ability to produce a world-class luxury vehicle that exceeds the expectations of Acura customers,” said Jun Nishimoto, president of Honda Manufacturing Indiana, LLC. “Building this all-new Acura vehicle as the exclusive global source is a big responsibility for our associates.” The full unveiling of the ILX will take place at the upcoming 2012 North American Auto Show early January.
