Aston Martin is to offer customers an exclusive performance car tuition package, focused towards achieving the national A-license required for competitive driving as part of the new Aston Martin Driving Academy.

The Aston Martin Driving Academy will be held at the Nürburgring, operating from the dedicated Aston Martin Test Centre adjacent to the circuit. Expert techniques will be taught through one-on-one training sessions, taking into account previous experience and driving ability. A personal instructor will guide customers through a variety of skills; from racing etiquette, to control of critical situations using knowledge of driving forces and car mechanics.

After completion of the first two elements of the program, participants can qualify for an official recognition of improved driving skills certificate, which can help to lower car insurance costs. Customers can also advance to practical skills tuition, which demonstrates specialised techniques in performance car handling. Each new proficiency level leads towards the final one on one driver assessment, which takes place on the toughest part of the Nurburgring track, the Nordschleife. Progress through the complete course can result in participation in a competitive race on the legendary 13-mile Nordschleife.

Wolfgang Schubauer, Director of the Aston Martin Nürburgring Test centre said: “The course underlines both essential elements of Aston Martin driving, road safety and track etiquette. Located at our Test Centre, owners can enjoy inspiration directly from the Nürburgring. We intend that each owner will leave with a clear understanding of their driving skills and a heightened sense of reaction and control.”

As well as being central to the testing and development of the company’s new cars, the Nürburgring has also been the scene of continued success at the annual 24-hours endurance race, where in May the British marque enjoyed a second-place class finish with the new four-door Rapide sports car. More recently at the VLN 4-hour endurance championship race both a factory-supported V12 Vantage and a customer-entered V8 Vantage GT4 finished first in their respective classes.
