The Italian auto makers have always been known for random acts of eccentric behavior. They have also been famed for taking every great car they make and chopping the roof off. What happens when these two quirks manage to meet? You are gifted with the most impressively insane machine to ever make its way out of Italy. Which company could produce such an item? Why its Lamborghini, of course, the most mental of all the supercar manufacturers, (Jeremy Clarkson voices, please) in the world.

This is the Lamborghini Aventador J roadster.

This collection of edges, engine and lunacy is as much a technical marvel as it is a super-fast face melter. Lamborghini has gone to great measures to make sure this car is one of lightest it has ever built. It not only employs carbon fiber in the body, but Lamborghini has even managed to create a lightweight carbon fiber fabric it calls “Carbonskin” for the seats and interior trim.

In other weight loss news, the Aventador J also does without a stereo, an air conditioning system and (slightly worryingly) no windshield. Lamborghini has instead fitted two small wind deflectors. If this whole set up seems to remind you of a sport-bike, it is supposed to. Lambo says they wanted to go for a two-seat sport-bike feel.

Powered by the same vocal and violent 12 cylinder engine of the regular Aventador, the car is gifted with 700 hp from the 6.5-liter mill. All this power and lack of weight equals a top speed of 186 mph. There is a reason the test driver in the photos is wearing a helmet.

While the numbers and the styling may seem pulled purely from a work of fiction, the car most certainly is not. This is not just some fancy concept car that will never see any real speed. What you see here is a real car that is really for sale, or was. Unsurprisingly, this work of Italian art has already been spoken for, for the cool sum of 2.1 million euros.

While it may only live the garage of one lucky soul, rest assured, this beast will grace many postered walls for years to come.
