The little Chevrolet Sonic will soon be recalled for a problem that seems to be more irritating than terribly hazardous. The hose that connects the windshield wiper washer and the fluid reservoir may separate. When called upon, cleaner would simply not be there to spray the windshield and drivers could go around with an obscured view. Since the issue violates the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 104, “Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems”, the Sonic will be recalled.

So far, approximately 44,668 vehicles are being investigated. Chevrolet is looking into 2012 model year cars built from May 5, 2011 through February 24, 2012. Notification to owners will go under way around September 7 and the remedy will be conducted at no extra cost to them. Certified dealers will properly secure the washer hose so that future separation will be eliminated.
