It would appear that currently, there are just not enough Pentastar V6 engines to go around. Chrysler LLC has had to cut one of the three work shifts at its Windsor, Ontario minivan plant because they can not get the same number of engines from Trenton, Michigan that they were used to. According to an Automotive News article, Canadian Auto Worker Local 444 first vice president, Dino Chiodo mentioned that a component shortage is to blame and that the midnight shift is no longer in working order.

In November, Chrysler will rotate the shift cuts to the evening shift. Later in the month, the morning shift will get the cut. The company plans on doing this until mid November at which point, Trenton will hopefully be able to produce enough Pentastars to that the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan and Volkswagen Routan can continue a full pace.
