Ferrari just announced that it is replacing the unique and powerful FF hatchback with a new model that is more of the same, but with an extra dose of performance. And a much longer name. Dubbed the GTC4 Lusso, this new machine is a second-generation FF in all but name. It has the same 6.3-liter V12 engine, the same unique AWD system, and that same notched silhouette that hides four real seats and the utility of a hatchback.

On the list of improvements is more power to the engine and greater handling ability thanks to the addition of a four-wheels steering system. Ferrari is calling the new system 4RM-S. They don’t go into too much detail, but we expect the near rear-wheel steering tech is based on the system found in the new F12 TdF. Horsepower and torque for the V12 engine have swelled by 30 ponies and 10 lb-ft bringing the totals to 680 and 514 respectively.

That kind of power will make any STI owner quiver.

The new bodywork has the same basic shape as the old FF, but fans of the Prancing Horse will notice the differences. The entire rear and has been reshaped to look a little more seductive and less frumpy, and the taillights are new double units in place of the old cars singular lamps. The headlights are also new, the hood is reshaped, the grille looks a touch larger, and the lower bumper is more aggressive.

Ferrari will be making the official public debut of this new rocket hatch at the Geneva Auto Show in March. We will be back with more details then.
