For 2011, the Ford Mustang V6 finally became a legitimate performance car when it got a new 3.7 liter with 305 horsepower. When Ford decided to offer a performance oriented edition, they needed a name to suit the tweaked model. They put the decision in the hands (or fingers) of Mustang fans by issuing a contest on Facebook to name the performance package. 3,000 submissions later and the 2012 Mustang Mayhem Package was born.

For the Mayhem, the engine output is unchanged but don’t let that worry you. The curb weight will be cut down to 3,500 lbs and the weight distribution is nearly perfectly equal. The final drive will be a tighter 3.31:1 ratio and the suspension will be swapped over from the GT. The lower control arms are from the GT500 and Mayhem specific 19″ wheels will be added. The word is still out on price but expect anywhere between $28k to $35k for a Mustang built for the people by the people.
