Nope, that's the oldest trick in the book. So there you are living and driving in CollegeState, and you get pulled over. Your license says CollegeState, but your car's registration and insurance says HomeState. You'll get a nasty ticket for not having your car reg'ed there and not having in-state insurance. You might get away with it if the car's in your parents' name but it's dicey.
You're not the first person to go off to college

This is a well known issue, and your insurance agent will have good advice.
Don't be sneaky and try to "fool" your insurance company, because the terms of the policy say that if you're sneaky, they can deny your accident claim completely, and make you eat medical bills and the whole cost of the car. They'll also tell your lender your car is totaled, so (read your finance agreement) they'll demand the full amount owed immediately.
