The engine in my Accent blew on Monday. Here's the situation. There is still a $4,300 loan left on the car. It has 70,853 miles on it. The heads on the engine can be replaced for $1,500. A brand new engine would cost $3,000 (would make the engine worth almost as much as the car). Or we can have a used engine put in the car from North Carolina (I'm in New Jersey) for $2,000. At this point I only have a temporary job, which ends in March, and cant get a new car. My father is offering me his 99 Nissan Sentra with 150,000 miles on it (I really dont want it, its making all sorts of odd noises plus the car is really hard to drive and I despise driving that car). Is the car worth fixing?
The timing belt was replaced last year at 60,000 miles.
