Even though the brand Pontiac is officially defunct, General Motors is still responsible for the last of the cars. For that reason, a certain number of 2008 and 2009 Pontiac G8 sedans are being recalled due to a potentially faulty air bag system. When the passenger seat is placed far forward, the position sensor will not transmit to the air bag fast enough. Due to this, deployment will happen about 30 milliseconds, just enough to increase the chance of a head injury.

As of now, 38,444 G8 models are being recalled. If the rear wheel drive sedan was built between November 2, 2007 and January 22, 2009, then it could be at risk. GM will begin its notification soon and will recalibrate sensor and module free of charge.
