The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded two Honda North American assembly plants with ‘Energy Star’ certification. Given only to automakers with facilities able to produce a vehicle with the least amount of energy used possible, the award is not easily achieved. The Marysville Auto Plant and East Liberty Plant, both located in Ohio, build the Acura TL and RDX as well as the Honda CR-V and Crosstour. Both went through a refresh to reduce waste and carbon emissions and used such items air circulation systems and smaller paint booths.

“Improving the energy efficiency of Honda factories is the single biggest focus of the company’s efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our operations,” said Karen Heyob, leader of Honda’s environmental initiatives at Honda of America. “Virtually every Honda associate is involved in conserving energy use in our plants.”
