Hyundai is recalling 5,200 Azera full-size sedan to fix an airbag sensor defect.

The recall affects Azeras from the 2012-2013 model years manufactured from May 22, 2012, through November 23, 2012.

The occupant detection system may not be able to properly determine whether a child or an adult is sitting in the front passenger seat. In the event of a crash, this problem could cause the front passenger’s airbag to “deploy with greater or lesser force than appropriate, resulting in an increased risk of injury.”

Hyundai did not disclose a start date for the recall.

Dealers will remedy the issue by recalibrating the airbag system free of charge.
