Do you enjoy the easy to understand nature of Infiniti’s current naming scheme? Do you fully grasp that G37 means G sedan with a 3.7-liter engine? Well prepare to have your word rocked as Infiniti just announced that all that is going away.

Starting with all 2014 products and beyond every Infiniti model will be a Q or a QX. Q will be designated for all sedans, coupes and convertibles with larger numbers denoting placement in range. So the current M will become the Q70 and the G coupe will be the Q60. The QX designation is for all SUVs and crossovers. The FX is now QX70 and the line goes down from there. The current QX56 becomes the QX80, and no that does not mean it comes with an 8.0-liter V10. That would be really awesome though.

If you are a visual learner, check out the handy chart that Infiniti has provided us that explains it all.
