If you are reading this, there is a decent chance you have gotten behind the wheel of a Camry sedan at least once. Now imagine that experience and more than likely, it was smooth, quiet, refined and very mature. As impressive as those attributes are in a family sedan, NASCAR great Kyle Busch would like to add a bit of excitement and attitude to the mix. The third contestant in this year’s Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge has been officially announced and it will not only be one of the best-selling vehicles on the planet, but a seriously “Rowdy” Toyota Camry.

“Our approach to the build is to make a car with the stance, attitude and handling of a road-race car while retaining the functionality of a production Camry,” said Busch. For the competition, Busch and his team will be piecing together what they are calling the Camry “Rowdy Edition” in honor of the racer’s “nickname”. The Detroit Speed & Engineering shop in Mooresville, North Carolina will be the vehicle’s home and there, a run-of-the mill 2012 SE will transform into something actually special.

Making things “Rowdy” will be a one-off wide body kit with belly pans, front splitter and rear diffuser with a custom dual exhaust. The official black, red, and white colors will litter the outside while the inside will feature special trim and Lexus IS-F seats. Voting for Toyota Racing’s Dream Build Challenge will start October 20.
