It all began with Porsche. When the Cayenne was introduced to the market, it was hailed as the possible downfall of the sports car companies. If the king of surgical handling sport scars will build an SUV, what will happen next, another Lamborghini SUV?!

Why yes, actually. Meet the Lamborghini Urus concept.

While it may seem like Lamborghini has begun to lose its focus, the company promises that the Urus will be every bit the dynamic and engaging vehicle it needs to be to wear the badge. Lamborghini has yet to reveal many solid details about the Urus or its powertrain, but it says it will have a power output of around 600 hp while also producing the least amount of CO2 in its class. With a height just over 64 inches and a planned 50:50 weight distribution, Lamborghini has the blue prints to what could be an incredibly powerful and incredibly capable monster. Just like the Lambos of today, and befitting an SUV, the Urus will make use of an always on all-wheel drive system.

Lamborghini also plans on leveraging its extensive research and knowledge of carbon fiber to keep weight to an absolute minimum.

Not much more is available in the way of details, but rest assured we will share them as soon as we know more. If you want to know a release date for this Italian beast, there isn’t one, but best bet would be the 2015 model year.
