For the 2012 model year, Nissan will be the first original equipment manufacture to offer smart phone Quick Response codes across its entire model line. Digital tags, like the ones offered on a select few Porsche models, will be placed on the vehicle’s window and will offer consumers an interactive experience. The information is free and a detailed web page will instantly pop up upon scanning.

“Nissan’s new QR code program puts important decision-making information at shoppers’ fingertips while on dealership lots, helping sales personnel make a more effective presentation, as well as providing customers with a ‘silent salesperson’ if they are shopping the lot after hours,” said Jon Brancheau, vice president of Marketing for Nissan North America. The codes will offer information such as: Specific vehicle information, including grade walk, key features and available accessories, video based product overviews, image gallery, incentive offers, dealer inventory, request a quote capability, join mailing list request, and dealer location support.

First cars to receive the tag treatment will be the upcoming 2012 Altima and Sentra.
