With the introduction of the all-new Boxster it was only a matter of time before a revised Cayman arrived, and here it is. The all-new 2014 Porsche Cayman has been unveiled at the LA Auto Show.

The new car is effectively better in every way. It is lower and longer than any Cayman before it, but it also has a lighter weight and more power. To top off the list of improvements it is not only faster, but more fuel efficient as well. The new car is being sold with a 2.7-liter flat six engine pumping 275 horsepower to the rear wheels. In S guise the car sees a larger 3.4-liter engine with 325 horsepower. Both cars come standard with a six-speed manual, but Porsche’s lighting fast PDK is an option. When equipped with the PDK and the Sport Chrono package, Porsche claims the Cayman will hit 60 in 5.1 seconds with the Cayman S dropping that number to 4.4 seconds.

Looks like the Cayman is getting even closer to the “better” 911. Perhaps Porsche is finally letting the little brother become the car it always should have been.

Look for the new car to hit showrooms this coming spring with prices starting at $52,600. The Cayman S will start at $63,800. Of course like all Porsche’s we are sure that a little time with the option sheet could move that number significantly higher.
