For the upcoming 2012 model year, the Hyundai Genesis Sedan is getting a few nice tricks. Not only does the refresh offer more options and different pricing, it also offers a new model: the 5.0 R-Spec. Also new is a 8-speed automatic for all models and a higher output V6.

The 3.8 liter V6 gets a bump up to 333 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque and with the new 8-speed, should achieve up to 29 mpg on the highway. Pricing for the new 3.8 has been confirmed to start at $34,200. To get the 385 horsepower 4.6 liter V8 Genesis, a buyer will have to shell out $44,500 and will also get the new 8-speed. But no longer is the 4.6 the top of the Genesis Sedan hill. There is a new model that packs the punch of a 429 horsepower 5.0 liter V8: the 2012 5.0 R-Spec.

The brand new, direct injected 5.0 liter version of the Tau V8 will produce 376 lb-ft of torque all while still achieving 25 mpg on the highway. With an aggressive aero package and big, 19″ wheels the R-Spec is truly a sight to be seen. No gaudy bolt ons here; just pure muscular aggression.

The top of the line R-Spec will start at $46,500 and still hold the industry’s best warranty.
