Volkswagen emphasizes the sport in Sport Utility Vehicle with the introduction of the R-Line to their Touareg and Tiguan models for 2014. Both models get an upgraded appearance package that sets them apart from their lesser brethren.

More specifically, the 2014 Touareg R-Line rolls on new 20-inch wheels, sports a more aggressive front clip, body-color rocker panels, dual oval-shaped exhaust tips, and LED taillights. Glossy-black and metallic accents adorn the interior reminding the driver there’s something different about this Touareg. Inside the Touareg’s hood resides either a 3.0-liter V-6 gas engine or a 3.0-liter TDI diesel.

The 2014 Tiguan R-Line gets similar treatments with bi-xenon headlights housed within a R-Line specific grille, 19-inch wheels with lower-profile all-season tires framed by tasteful grey fender flares, a rear spoiler, and LED license plate lights. Inside the Tiguan gets similar metallic finishes as the Touareg, but also includes a flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel.

The Tiguan comes in either front-wheel-drive for VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive and is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder as the Volkswagen GTI.

Both models are scheduled for showrooms in the third quarter of 2013. Pricing, Volkswagen says, will be announced closer to launch.
