Fiat-Chrysler plans to expand Jeep brand worldwide — particularly in fast-growing markets in Asia and South America, reports The Detroit News.

CEO Sergio Marchionne wants to add new assembly lines in China and Brazil to produce Jeeps for sale in those markets.

Jeep brand President Michael Manley is also hoping that new offerings such as the 2014 Cherokee will allow the automaker to boost exports from the United States.

Jeep sold a record number of 731,565 crossovers and sport utility vehicles worldwide in 2013.
