25 years ago, Honda introduced to North America their premium sister brand, Acura. Since then, they have been known for blending relieability with luxury and performance all while building some true icons along the way. To celebrate, Acura has introduced a new version of their do-it-all sport sedan, the TSX, for the 2012 model year. The TSX Special Edition was designed as a way to pay homage to the high performance four cylinder Acuras of the past.

The biggest upgrades for the Special Edition can be found on the outside. Aggression has been added all around the body by way of new front and rear bumpers, a new grille and lower side skirts. No boy-racer tricks apply as the Special Edition still holds on to the sophisticated power that the TSX has been known for: everything is simply just lower and wider. Unique to the trim level are dark grey polish 17 inch five spoke wheels.

On the inside, the Special Edition gets numerous exclusive bits and pieces. The seating material uses red stitching which can also be found on the steering wheel and shifter knob. The guage, overhead and footwell lighting also feature a red hue and silver plating can be found all around the interior trim. Under the hood is the familiar, tried and true 2.4 liter inline four cylinder found across the TSX line. With the ability to rev past 8,000 rpms, this high-output K24 is pure Honda: breathing nothing but air. Behind the 201 horsepower four cylinder (no V6 Special Edition will be offered just yet) can either be the six speed manual or five speed automatic.

The 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition will hit dealerships late September. Its public debut will take place September 22 at the Orange County International Auto Show. Official pricing has not yet been announced.
