For the first time ever, the North American Motor Press Guild (MPG) media association will be issuing a Vehicle of The Year Award. Five finalist were chosen by an elite group of automotive journalists for their safety, quality, value, performance and handling, design and style, environmental and green impact as well as their technology and innovation standards. Beating out all its competition and landing on the number one spot is the 2012 Audi A7. The award will be issued by MPG president, Laura Burstein on the first day of the Los Angeles Auto Show, November 16.

“It was a close contest, but the 2012 Audi A7 managed to edge out the competition with its compelling combination of handsome styling, dynamic handling and advanced in-car technology,” said Burstein. In this highly competitive market, it’s hard to be a standout, but Audi did it with the A7. Likewise, we congratulate all of our finalists on bringing solid, efficient and good-looking vehicles to the market that are fun to drive.” With a supercharged 3.0 liter V6, an innovative eight speed automatic, in car WiFi access, and one of the most powerful and smart body designs on the market, the A7 took the trophy. “We’re proud to be selected by Motor Press Guild as the recipient of their first-ever Vehicle of the Year award,” said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America.
