Suppose you are the CEO of a large company and need to travel immediately from Pensacola, Florida to Dallas, Texas in order to attend a meeting at one of your manufacturing plants. Your driver takes you to the airport, where the company’s Learjet 60 is waiting with the engines running for you to arrive. As soon as you pull up, assistants carry your luggage from the car to the plane, you hop on board and take off. You are saving two hours of waiting to get through security alone. The direct flight was booked exclusively for you, saving four more hours from an additional flight and layover, plus you didn’t have to lift a finger to get it done. Feels satisfying doesn’t it?

Enter the BMW Vision Next 100, a prototype built for BMW’s 100th birthday, but designed to convey the company’s future far more than as a tribute to it’s illustrious past. With this prototype BMW has set its sights towards delivering the most precious of things; the luxury of time.

Let’s revert back to the CEO scenario for a second and imagine that you are meeting with a high level client during your flight to Dallas, but having a rushed morning, you did not have time to prepare before leaving the office. If you were driving yourself in a normal car, you’d be stuck. Thankfully you are the proud new owner of the BMW Vision Next 100. Rather than fret about your unpreparedness, you simply turn the car into your office. Just set the car into Ease Mode and not only does the car drive itself to the airport, but the interior morphs in front of you. The steering wheel melts into the dash and you can now comfortably sit facing the passenger seat, giving you space for a makeshift desk.

But this is BMW, and they build cars worth driving, which is why they added Boost Mode. Centering around the driver, Boost Mode incorporates augmented reality via head’s up displays on the windshield to monitor potential driver threats, along with suggested driving lines and a host of advanced features.

Whether you are looking for the ultimate driving experience or in need of a distraction free zone, the BMW Vision Next 100 will cater to your individual needs. Welcome to the 22nd century.
