The 2013 Buick Encore is stepping on stage for its first time as the luxury crossover rolled into dealerships earlier this month. The Encore carves a new niche for Buick as it looks to gain access to the compact luxury crossover market.

Offered with a 1.4-liter turbocharged I-4 with either FWD or AWD, the CUV is estimated to get an impressive 25 city/33 highway mpg. Features like IntelliLink connectivity with voice commands, leather seating, navigation, 18-inch chrome wheels, and a Bose stereo system help spruce up its luxury standing.

Buick has safety covered with Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, back-up camera, and 10 airbags.

In an interesting departure from GM’s standard practice, the Encore will be an only child – at least in America. GM’s other divisions like Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac won’t be seeing their grilles on this platform. The Encore can, however, be spotted as an Opel or Chevrolet in markets outside the U.S. The Encore is underpinned by the same Gamma architecture that’s under the Chevy Sonic and is powered by the Sonic’s optional 1.4-liter. Except those two shared items, the Encore is its own vehicle.

The 2013 Encore will soon be available for purchase at your local GM dealership. Pricing starts at $24,950 and climbs with options.
