It’s safe to say the Cadillac brand is no longer relegated to retirees and bingo hall parking lots. The current model CTS, especially, has played well with youthful buyers looking to replace that dime-a-dozen 3-series in their garage.

Cadillac has set their sights even higher with the 2014 CTS sedan that was just unveiled at the New York Auto Show. The Art and Science design comes through beautifully with sculpted, crisp lines and intricate details throughout the car. Revised engines make it fiercely competitive on a global scale and an architecture shared with the ATS sedan will surely make it handle like a scalpel.

The CTS will get three engine options: the 2.0-liter inline-four turbo shared from the ATS, the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V-6 from the current CTS, and an all-new twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6. The twin-turbo 3.6-liter is the biggest news of course, making an insane 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft. of torque.

All that turbocharged power will be routed through a brand-new eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The naturally aspirated 3.6-liter can also be paired with the eight-speed. All-wheel-drive is also available, but with the six-speed auto. Magnetic Ride Control is available for the first time on a non-V model and the weight distribution is a perfect 50/50.

Inside the new CTS is Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system and 12-inch digital gauge cluster with customizable displays. Options include Alcantara seats, a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate controls, ambient lighting, rear sunshades, and a 20-way power adjustable driver’s seat.
