General Motors recently announced that Cadillac will be getting a new man in charge of global affairs. A GM senior executive, Robert E. Ferguson will now serve as the luxury brand’s global vice president and will be responsible for marketing, brand management and advertising. Later on in 2013, Ferguson will also assume the task of overseeing global sales.

“He [Ferguson] brings a deep business and marketing background that has been marked by delivering results at every stop and under every circumstance. The Cadillac brand will hit a higher gear under his watch,” said Dan Akerson, GM CEO. Cadillac has hit a wave of global success recently especially in the Chinese market. With two all-new vehicles afoot, the XTS and ATS, as well as the next generation Escalade coming soon, Ferguson will surely have his work cut out for him. A public strategies veteran, the man joined GM in 2010 when he became vice president of global public policy.

“I’m excited to join a talented team during a period of revitalized growth,” said Ferguson. “The opportunity to strengthen and grow Cadillac is ours for the taking. More people in new markets will experience what makes Cadillac one of the industry’s most revered brands.”
