Building a vehicle for South America takes a different approach than say building one for the United States or Europe. In those places, most roads are smooth and paved but in parts of South America that just isn’t the case. Thoughts of mud, jungles and rough rally roads come to mind first instead of city streets and Chevrolet seems to share that same train of thinking. At the Buenos Aires International Auto Show, they revealed a concept truck for the next generation Colorado midsize pickup simply calling it “Rally”.

“Colorado Rally exhibits Chevrolet’s DNA in an off road version,” said Carlos Barba, GM South America Design Center director. “Each and every detail was deeply studied in order to deliver maximum authenticity, designed with the rally raid category in mind, also known as cross country rallying.” The truck features trick off road items such as 305/60R18 mud terrain tires, diamond-plated skid plates, Fox Racing dampers with 140mm of travel, twin bumper integrated winches, numerous LED lights including adjustable searchlights and countless tow points and cargo holds. Powered by the euro-spec 2.8 liter turbocharged diesel, the Rally Colorado emits large amounts of torque while still managing to be efficient.

Word is still out on if this truck will see production or if some of its performance parts will. If anything, the industry could see a new line of GM backed parts and maybe some South American endurance can make its way to the U.S.
